Staff from Dungarvin Washington showed up in numbers during a recent Day at the Capitol event in Olympia to advocate for Supported Living Services.

Dungarvin’s Direct  Support Professionals, leaders and persons served participated in a rally to emphasize to legislators how important it is for people in need of supports to live within their communities, and not be isolated.

“We worked together, through coordinated participation, legislative education and meetings with policymakers, to ensure our voices and priorities were heard,” said Senior Director Kendra Ellis. “We were able to talk about our experiences, which I think helped our legislators understand our concerns.”

Dungarvin’s Supported Living Services are tailored, in-home supports for adults who need 24-hour or scheduled assistance to live successfully within the community. These services are provided in individuals’ homes, semi-independent apartments and group residential settings.

Kendra said she’s proud that so many of her colleagues advocated during the Day at the Capitol. “Rain or shine — or in this case, cold — Dungarvin staff always show up!”
