Eloise M. is celebrating her 20-year Milestone Anniversary with Dungarvin Oklahoma as an Agency Companion provider for her daughter Carissa.
The Agency Companion program allows Carissa to stay with her family to receive the support she needs, which Eloise considers a great gift.
“Since Carissa’s premature birth, she has needed total care; but she is a total joy,” Eloise said. “She has an excellent attitude, and her love of life is contagious. She enjoys all that every girl does. Dungarvin has given me the opportunity to stay with her and facilitate her having so many wonderful experiences.”
The Dungarvin Oklahoma team is greatly impressed by the way Eloise has supported her daughter, said Program Director Angela Wheeler. “She’s taught me a lot about community inclusion for people with disabilities. Carissa has never lacked for family and friends, who have surrounded her in support and companionship.”
As one example, Eloise and Carissa volunteered at their public library, where many members and children came to know Carissa and learned about her disabilities, and abilities.
“Eloise is a great at finding the best solutions for a variety of problems. She has advocated for her daughter in all things,” Angela added.
“I want to thank all of the supportive and caring staff at Dungarvin,” Eloise said. “Your help and friendship is so precious to us. I couldn’t possibly have a better job!”
