Monique Underwood joined Dungarvin in 2022 as a People Services Associate in the Human Resources Department. Prior to joining the company, she had worked as a Validation Specialist for a mortgage loan company. Dungarvin promoted Monique in 2024 to People Services Manager. She works in Xenia, Ohio, and supports operations there, as well as in Indiana, Kentucky and Louisiana.
What do you like most about your job?
My favorite part is learning new things and creating new processes. I am always looking for ways to improve and simplify our daily work, creating better efficiency so my team can do their jobs more easily.
What do you most value about your Dungarvin team?
For the team I supervise, I value their willingness to help one another and the strong bonds they’ve developed. They consistently step up when needed and work together to get things done. For my colleagues and supervisors, I value their wisdom, guidance and support. They have played an important role in my growth, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
What do you like to do for fun?
I enjoy watching my kids play sports and taking them to do fun activities. In my free time, I also enjoy playing PC video games.
How did the place where you grew up shape who you are today?
I grew up in a low-income neighborhood, which taught me to appreciate what I have today and motivates me to provide a better life for my children.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
I would have to say earning my bachelor’s degree while working full-time at Dungarvin and raising four children. It wasn’t easy balancing work, school and family responsibilities, but it taught me perseverance, time management and the importance of never giving up on a goal. Looking back, I’m proud of what I accomplished and the example it set for my children.
