Lee-Ellen Bailey joined Dungarvin Kentucky in 2024 as an Area Executive Director. Prior to that, she was a paramedic for 20 years, and then a Regional Program Director for another organization. She said the best part of her job today is working with her team to accomplish goals that make life better for the people Dungarvin supports.

How did the place where you grew up shape who you are today?

I grew up in the Chicago area. My family moved up to Northern Michigan when I was in high school, so I feel the drastic change of city life to rural life has given me the strength to adapt to any situation.

What do you like to do for fun?

I enjoy doing puzzles, hanging out with my family and going to the drag-racing strip to watch my husband compete.

Who are your heroes in life and why?

My dad is my hero. Growing up we had a love/hate relationship. As we both grew older, I began to understand the decisions he made. He sacrificed so much for his family and was there for me when I needed help being a single mom. I knew I always could count on him to be there when I needed. He taught me how to be independent and work hard for what I want.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Raising my kids is my greatest achievement. I was a single mom for a while, and was able to work two jobs and go to school to earn my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. My kids are in their 20s now and are successful in life.

What do you most value about the Dungarvin team with whom you work?

My team is always willing to step up and help each other out. I could not be as successful as I am without the team that works with me.
