Behavioral Challenges

Some people with disabilities, such as intellectual and developmental disabilities or significant mental health issues, may exhibit challenging behaviors due to unmet needs, communication barriers, environmental factors and other issues. These behaviors can include aggression, self-injury, property destruction and inappropriate social behavior.

Dungarvin’s Direct Support Professionals and Mental Health Specialists are trained in positive behavioral supports for people with complicated needs and behavioral challenges. Working with the individual and the people closest to them, we develop behavior support plans that emphasize positive methods and strategies to minimize the loss of individual rights.

Depending on an individual’s needs, and the state in which they live, Dungarvin provides support for people with behavior challenges in its residential services, foster care, host home service, day programs, hourly supports, case management and vocational/supported employment services.
