5 Questions With Francie Tuescher, Dungarvin Wisconsin State Director

Growing up on a farm shaped who she is today

January 5, 2026 | Isabella Johnson, Social Media Specialist

After earning a degree in physical education, with a minor in health education, Francie Tuescher entered the health care field, and has loved it ever since. Before joining Dungarvin, she worked in the nonprofit world, serving people with developmental disabilities. Later, she earned a master’s degree in project management and spent 13 years at a nonprofit, disabilities services agency in Iowa, where she held roles including chief operating officer and interim president/CEO. Francie joined Dungarvin in 2012 as the Wisconsin State Director.

What do you like most about your job?

Hands down, the persons we serve. While I might not be in the homes providing direct services every day, I believe in the work we do, and if my contributions help an individual thrive in their own home and community, then my work matters.

How did the place where you grew up shape who you are today?

I’m a farm girl who earned a penny a bale to go to the county fair. I believe it is the work ethic and teamwork it takes to run a farm that has shaped who I am today.

Who are your heroes in life and why?

My parents are my heroes. My father is 92, and up until a recent setback, still going to the farm every day.  One month into a full hip replacement, he’s already out and about. He has been behind enemy lines and has survived four different bouts with cancer. At one point, he was told he had just days to live — he had different thoughts. Right beside him, and often a couple steps ahead, was my mother. God rest her soul.

What do you most value about the Dungarvin team with whom you work?

The team surprises me every day. When times get tough, they pull together to problem-solve and to give of themselves so we can support our individuals served. Each of them has unique talents, which complement each other well and, when combined, will overcome any challenge.

If you weren’t working for Dungarvin, what would be your dream job?

At this point in my life, if I were not working for Dungarvin, I would be spending every possible moment with my father, children and grandchildren, and loving every minute of it. If somehow that were a job with compensation, that would just be icing on the cake.
