"To
the People of Dungarvin and
To the People Who Want to Know More About Dungarvin"
by:
Harvey Gollman, brother
At a moment in time when care for the mentally challenged most often
appears in the media as stories of neglect and abuse, I and my family
feel particularly blessed with the care and attention that my 53 year
old sister Betsy has received at the Dungarvin Group Home in Milwaukee.
Whether announced or unannounced I have only experienced a calm and
friendly environment with care givers that have been eager to help their
residents with genuine kindness.
My brother and I live out of state and only visit Milwaukee
periodically. When we do visit, the caregivers at Betsy’s residence go
out of their way to help and guide us so that our visits with Betsy are
happy and positive experiences for all of us. I cannot imagine a more
perfect environment for my “little sister” who has been under
professional care since she was 4 or 5 years old.
I want to give special recognition to Corrine McCormack who supervises
Betsy’s home and the wonderful Penny Gunem and Sarah Reiser who take
such wonderful care of their charges. My brother Dan and I could not
ask for three more caring and wonderful people to look after our
sister. Thank you all for the loving care and for our peace of mind. |
